Is it supposed to take hours and hours and hours to encode a FLV file, when encoding the same thing with similar settings to a QuickTime movie takes 20 minutes?
I encoded a 7 min video in iMovie HD, for fairly good quality (i.e. Best (2 pass), Medium bitrate (920kbit/s), 14.98 frame rate, keyframe Auto = 60, etc.) resulting file size is about 56 mb.
When I went to bed last night and left it running, it said something like 526 minutes to go. I have no idea how long it actually took, but it was hours. Yet the same thing encodes to a QT video at similar settings, similar size, in about 20 minutes. ??
(It's a mac dual 800 G4 - I know, not the fastest beast these days, but it's the disparity between FLV and QT encoding that has me scratching my head.)
