Advice on upgrading & help opening template

I purchased some Flash templates. When I try to open them I get an "unexpected file format" error. The person I bought them from says "try MX or 6". I plan to upgrade but before I spend the money I want to make sure they will open in MX or higher version (I will wait until I learn it otherwise). Can anyone help me with that? Can I email one of them to make sure that they open?

Also, I have found Studio 8 upgrade for $399 (an upgrade). Will my current version of Flash 5 allow that UPGRADE, or do I have to purchase Dreamweaver full version? I use GoLive, so not really ready to convert yet.

since it is a flash template, you need flash.
Now we have to decide which version to go for.I would suggest wait and buy the flash8.That way your template will surely open and you will get the most upto date flash version.
