View Full Version : importing .swf flies into a new .fla doc..

hello flashMovers-
Im very new at this, so please forgive me...

I have created 9 .swf files. and wanted to load those on to a timeline to beable to have an interactive movie...where the user jumps around to different pages...ect..ect..

the 9 .swf files has video and buttons and variest text on them...

when I load the .swf files into a new .fla document and hit ctrl+enter.. the preview only plays the first frame,no video plats, and none of the buttons work????

Im at a lost...is this even the right direction Im heading??
how can I make this work??
how would u make this work???

Wha code are you using to load the swf's into the main movie. sounds like a targeting issue

HI Paul...well.. I did some searching on the fourm..I've tried a few things..

1. epix..wrote:
"make your new fla, insert a new symbol (mc), and import that swf to this new mc (not to library)."
I tried this but the only option to import from the file menus are to the stag to the libr..and open external libr..
the only other way maybe is in the 'convert to symbols dialouge box', under advance, the option to link it...but that didn't work either, for me at least,,=).

so I tried to make a button and then load the .swf file after the user hits it..but my scriting is wrong and flash doesn't know where to locate the .swf file...

then I tried Gargoyle's suggestion:
"well why don't u just create an empty movieclip and tell it to loadmovie (url);
this code placed in the first frame of yar movieclip will do the job."

but for me I would Need BABY Steps.step by step on how to do this..
so Paul maybe If u have the time.. Can U walk me thur this???
where to put the .swf files? so flash can acsesse it.. ect..
