I searched "SWF to FLV" but didn't come up with anything in the forums.

I would like to take an SWF file I created from a Macromedia Captivate project and convert it to an FLV so I can play it back with the flv player (because the flv player is very slick, and I have not seen anything like it for playing swf files).

When I try to import the SWF file into a new FLA file, so I can then render the FLA as an AVI and into an FLV, I'm losing my audio on the import.

I'm sure there has to be an easy solution, as the problem of being able to control an swf as a movie with stop, play, rewind, fast forward, move next and move previous has had to have been (that's clumsy language) tackled before.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I am having the same issue. Did you figure anything out since your post?

you can export your movies as avi format and then convert back it into flv through flash itself. But changing a swf file to avi will take a lot time and your system resource too.Becareful about the resolution also.

are you exporting from captivate to flash, then exporting your .avi from flash? any suggestions for settings there?

I think I was losing my audio channel when I tried importing the swf into an FLA to export as an AVI.

I put in a request to Macromedia to get me (free of charge) FlashMX2004 (which captivate does work with) so I could at least export the project into software that I can add some actionscript code to...

/** :fire: BEGIN FLAME :fire: **/

If Camtasia can export to FLV, I don't see why Captivate, Macromedia's own product, can't export to FLV. It seems to me that one of the top priorities after taking over the Robo... software, would be to update it to work with Flash 8 and support the new FLV format... rawr.

/** :fire: END FLAME :fire: **/

If Macromedia cannot help me, we will be doing all of our screen capturing with Camtasia and switching to the Microsoft Avalon that will do the same things as Flash.

Sorry about your troubles. I do have Flash MX Professional and I am able to export from Captivate to Flash. I have tried exporting from there as an .mov and am getting an error about a Quicktime handler not supported... I have also tried an .avi and it seemed successful until I tried importing into Soreson, got an erorr! I'm stuck for the moment...
