View Full Version : SICK OF THE 3D CARTEL!

3D is very lovely on the net, everyone likes it you can do amazing things combining it with flash including 3d chat rooms, games, cartoons etc..., but the thing is , it seems that it can only be available for some!!!
Everyone goes on about all the pluggins and even Director 8.5 now you can get hold of but they don't mention that with the pluggin's alone there isn't much you can do apart from flying squares and strange blocky shapes. So obviously you need to get Discreet's big boy 3DSTUDIO MAX. Fine if it is the only software you can use but does anyone here realises the price of the thing????
Tell me how anyone who has not got a couple of 10k to spend on software???
Does anyone there knows of an alternative to this??? How can we put 3D in flash without using 3D studio max and without using frame by frame animation?????Do we people who are no rich but dying to get our hands on new technology have to live in this vicious circle of not knowing 3D studio max an not being able to learn it???
Swift 3D
It's less then half in price, but the new Macromedia software is a whole different animal.
The programming speaks in virtual math. Math is teaching it a different level of dimension.
Where as, Swift 3D draws the lines as if it was really 3D.
The new Macromedia software is smart, the programming acts on "visible" rendering. Which means the object is a constant mathmatical object. And can most likely be smaller in file size, better compiliing.
But there is truth to what you say, but that is the way of software developers. If it was available in simple FREE extensions or cheap upgrades the company would not make money. And everyone loves money, instead of letting creativity grow, you must pay the price.

well here's the deal...you aren't buying the software, you're paying for a liscense to use their software. the fact is that most people are going to be using the program to make money...thats all there is to it, i mean if they were free extensions, everyone could do this themselves

I don't mind paying for software as long as it is realistic. Unless you are a company or have a lot of money you can't afford something like Maya or 3DMax. Fine for stuff like Flash or Illustrator who are relatively cheap compared to it.
I suppose until I become rich, I shall stick with simpler animations such as swift3D.

I believe that one of best the software free is POV-ray
http://www.povray.org (all Free)
You can see some figures:
http://www.povray.org/ftp/pub/povray/Hall-Of-Fame/camera.jpg
It's very good.
And if you to want the 3d flash you convene that to use with to Poser Pro Pack ( http://www.curiouslabs.com ). You to be able to arrange in this way it is Flash technology, Viewpoint technology, Quicktime and all with the power of the Pyton language.

There might be something else you can try. It is called AmphoriumPro 3D. It is a 3D moddeling tool which can be used to do 3D stuff in vector format. Unfortunatlly I lost the link to the site where you can download it, so you will have to seacrh a bit. It is not free but not that expensive, you can download a free trail version, just don't ask me where, sorry. I have not really worked in it as I don't have the time to fiddle around with these things :( But I glanced over it and it looked promising.
Cheers

well but then u still have a pre rendered animation, much cooler i think is letting it calculate in real time... so this is what makes a coders heart beating higher :) just need some math to do so...

Cowgirl brought up an interesting point a while back that our team of animators hopefully have the answer to.
Stop by:
http://www.webpromotion.com/fp01.html
We've just released FlashPak3D (volumes 1 & 2) - royalty free stock 3D animation for Flash in swf format.
Now you don't have to have a big budget to add big effects. Costing only a couple dollars per animation, these are affordable for everyone.
These aren't your typical rotating squares either.
We've also put some free ones online for everyone to download.
Enjoy.
