Depends on if you are trying to figure out the 3D to 2D mathematics, or the dynamic line/point code.

That is all origional, i've never seen it done in this way before. So if you'd like to get more of an explanation about how the different lines work and how the points and buttons and adjusters are all dynamic, drop me an e-mail.

I am working on version 2. Right now the all connect lines have an error that I didn't have time to troubleshoot before.
Right now the lines are generates as you generate points, meaning there is more than one line connecting between 2 points most of the time.

I am working on a way around this by checking whether a line has been created between those 2 points. It's a lot harder than it sounds when they are created dynamicly like this.

Soon I will write a good tutorial on how 3D like this in Flash works, as I know it is very complicated and it can have a lot of uses once more people begin to understand it.

Many many concept can be derived once you understand how to manipulate x/y/z coordinates in this type of movie. I am even using this concept for a client by modeling their product by ploting 3D points.

Look forward to more advanced FLA's like these.

Very cool, it seems kindof processor intesive though. Have you optomized the code alot?

Yes the code is very optimized, the only way its processor intensive is if you get into 15 or more points in all connect mode. That would be a line coming from each point going to each other point. A lot of work for a computer. Other than that, all lines, buttons, selectors, points and everything is generated dynamicly with using as little code as possible.

So it is very optimized.

nice work SubDream - going to check out the fla here soon (thanks for having that available). do you have any good resources or urls for grasping how this works? http://flashmove.com/board/images/smilies/smile.gif

Thanks SubDream for the info - overall, I'm trying to dig more into the mathematics involved in creating, monitoring, rotating, resizing, etc. the points in a 3d model - similar to if you are to take away all lines in your 3d example.

This is a new area that I haven't really jumped into before but all I need is a good resource to understand the concepts and then put something together.

Some of the things that I'd like to learn more about:

- x/y/z coordinate systems and how they're created and manipulated

- 3d objects and how they react to their environment's perspective/world view

- all the fine details on how to make it work http://flashmove.com/board/images/smilies/smile.gif

Any pointers or directions you could point me? Thanks...

You want url's to sites that will help you understand the math, formulae and basic concept of 3d?!?!

if so then i recommend you view the following:
www.gamasutra.com (http://www.gamasutra.com) www.gamdev.net (http://www.gamdev.net)

both sites have many in-depth articles about 3d math.

Hope that helps!!

Cool - thanks Guy for the info. I'm pretty familiar with trig and the math involved with animating and manipulating in the 2D world but would like to jump into learning the math involved for developing in 3D.

I have checked out quite a few sites related to 3D math - not sure if I've seen the ones you mentioned though... Just trying to get as many urls and info available. Thanks for the info! http://flashmove.com/board/images/smilies/smile.gif
