Macromedia have just released a new micro-site for the "Flash Platform" aimed at explaining how everything fits together, the solutions offered and the future.

Flash Player 8 (Maelstrom) is confirmed to have file upload and download dialog features...

Quote from the whitepaper:

"The next major release of Flash Lite, code-named Deuce, is based on Flash Player 7, which will elevate scripting for mobile applications to a more powerful level with ActionScript 2 support."

Perhaps most exciting, Macromedia have joined the Eclipse (eclipse.org) project, working on a new IDE for Rich Internet Apps codenamed Zorn.
